Let us do without hesitation whatever good lies at our hands
Let us do without hesitation whatever good lies at our hands. — Frédéric Ozanam
Our Vincentian volunteers are the heart and soul of our mission. They are instrumental in us helping people like Jean. Jean was a homeless individual who was referred to case management through our volunteers. She is disabled and was living at a shelter for quite some time. She found her path to self-sufficiency with case management and community connector support to access supplemental income, benefits and resources. One of the resources was the “Ticket to Work” program. This is a free, voluntary program that provides career development for Social Security disability beneficiaries ages 18 through 64 who want to work. She also received support from Seattle’s Downtown Emergency Services Center.
Jean is now housed and living independently. Some of the items for her home even came through one of St. Vincent de Paul’s thrift stores. The Case Management team continues to work with her and reports her motivation remains high.
