Restoring Hope

Sally is a disabled woman who joined our Case Management Program earlier this year.  She has endured chronic homelessness over the years due to a lengthy battle with heroin addiction. She came to St. Vincent de Paul sober yet with a broken spirit and no place to call home.

With the help of Case Management, Sally developed resiliency & hope, obtained part time work to supplement her disability income, has moved into stable housing, reinstated her driver’s license, obtained her credit report and is gradually clearing debts, resolved child support issues, and developed and implemented solid budgeting skills.  She is also cultivating healthy, pro-social relationships as well as engaging in positive recreational activities & hobbies, worked on family reunification.

Last week, when Sally moved into transitional housing, she sent her Case Manager the following text:

“Thank you for all the help and support you’ve given me, it means so much! To have someone believe in me makes a huge difference!!” iStock_000008145225Medium

She will remain in the Case Management Program for up to a year to focus on maintaining her stability as well as continuing to solidify problem solving skills. Recovery centers are really helpful so if you plan to start one, these rehab consultants can help you understand the requirements on how to run a successful center.
