Thank You to Boeing Employees
By SVdP Staff
All of our 1,100 neighborhood volunteers, the staff, and the Board of Directors of St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle|King County want to publicly thank and applaud the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound (ECF) for awarding us a generous $40,000 grant for improving access at our Fourth Avenue South Seattle Food Bank.
Grant funds will be utilized to build a ramp and a canopy on the West side of theFoodBankBuilding. People who are disabled and have difficulty will benefit immediately from the ramp. Everyone visiting our food bank during inclement weather will benefit from a canopy that will help them keep dry.
The ramp and the canopy will be finished before the fall of 2012. This project will also allow for landscaping, lighting and benches to support public respite and shelter from traffic and weather.
The ECF, run by rank and file Boeing employees since 1951, has graciously awarded over $500 million in grants to thousands of worthy causes for over 60 years. The heartfelt generosity of Boeing employees has benefited St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle|King County a number of times. We have received over $200,000 from the ECF in past years for valuable projects that help those who are less fortunate.
The legacy of giving and caring Boeing employees is well established in Seattle and other communities where the company does business. They have seen very good times as well as some very tough and challenging times. That’s one of the reasons Boeing employees understand and appreciate giving to help others.
Again, St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle|King County thanks and applauds the ECF for such compassionate generosity!
