When Part-Time Work Isn’t Enough

Ranya is a single mom with two teenagers. She has a part-time job but her hours vary and she has trouble getting by. Her rent is subsidized, so she only pays $150 a month, which is helpful. However, she pays all of her family’s utilities and is very behind on her electric bill. She owed over $1,200 and had no way to pay this amount, or even the half necessary to prevent immediate shut off. She had an appointment with Centerstone and was able to get a LIHEAP pledge of $734. She called the Help Line to see if we could pay the last $100 needed to prevent shut off. Donor support made is possible for us to help Ranya keep her power on for her family.
