SVdP Receives More Food to Distribute!
We received a special shipment of Food Boxes from Food Lifeline this week. We will be distributing the boxes at our Georgetown Food Bank and at our Centro Rendu Food Bank Distribution point at our Kent thrift store. The boxes are part of the USDA Food Box Coronavirus Farm Assistance Program (CFAP) announced by USDA on April 17, 2020.
We received the boxes from Food Lifeline, our primary provider of food for the Georgetown Food Bank. We received:
- 880 boxes of pre-packaged food (dry goods)
- Each box weighs approximately 25 lbs.
- Over 200 of the boxes will go to Centro Rendu’s Kent Food Bank
Through this program, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is partnering with national, regional and local suppliers, whose workforce has been significantly impacted by the closure of restaurants, hotels and other foodservice businesses, to purchase up to $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy and meat products.
