Everyone Should Have Access to Technology!
We will begin selling computer equipment at our Kenmore store on Monday, Nov. 16th at 11 a.m. We want you to have and understand the back story associated with this initiative.
St. Vincent de Paul believes that every individual should have equitable access to technology. Yet, individuals and families with low income continue to experience multiple barriers to achieving digital literacy and fluency. These barriers may be due to an inability to afford updated electronic devices, lack of affordable Internet access as well as outdated wiring for broadband.
We are taking a step to try to help with this issue. We have formed a partnership with InterConnection, a well-known and established 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that refurbishes and sells laptops, desktop machines, and computer peripherals to low income neighbors, non-profits and others. InterConnection will have a kiosk in our Kenmore store. They will be able to offer advice and help everyone find equipment that works for them.
Individuals and families who want to become digital learners suffer from limited knowledge of how to use electronic devices to engage meaningfully in the Seattle job market.
InterConnection is committed to connecting underserved communities by offering low-cost or refurbished electronic devices. Their program is designed to maintain an inclusive digital environment and work culture where underrepresented communities can use digital tools to enhance their quality of life.
So come see us starting Monday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at our Kenmore store.
