SVdP Food Bank Hosts NIVDP Recognition Event
St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle King County (SVdP) helped recognize key partners involved with the 2014 National Influenza Vaccination Disparities Partnership (NIVDP), a project supported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The recognition event for NIVCP was held recently at the SVdP Georgetown Food Bank.
Partners and others honored and recognized included Washington Department of Health, Seattle Health Indian Board, Walgreens, El Centro de la Raza, Immunization Coalition of Seattle, and National Asian Pacific Center on Aging, Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, Sea Mar Community Clinic, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Each year, an estimated 5 to 20 percent of the U.S. population may be infected with influenza. More than 200,000 people are hospitalized annually, many with life-threatening conditions, because of the flu. The NIVDP project reaches out to help populations who have low rates of participation in receiving vaccinations. The recognition event recognized groups and companies helping with the 2014 project here in the Seattle market.
