Sober and Trying to Stay That Way
Craig and Samantha came to SVdP with nowhere else to turn. They had moved here from out of state about a month ago and were living with friends. They both were fortunate to find jobs shortly after arriving. However, they quickly realized that the friends who they were staying with were addicts. This was a problem for both Craig and Samantha, who were in recovery themselves, so they went to stay in a motel and started saving for an apartment.
They answered an ad for an apartment and put down the deposit. It turns out the gentleman who showed them the apartment was the former tenant, and he ran off with their money. It was literally all they had until payday next week. They had no idea what to do and nowhere to go and both had to work during this ordeal. SVdP was able to pay for a motel room for two nights for the couple to enable them to finish out the work week and seek other shelter resources.
