Single Mom and Family Needing Help
April is a single mom with three children. She is seeking employment, but currently has no income at all. As a result, her rent is $25 through Section 8. However, she has no way to pay her utilities. When she contacted us, the utility company had given her a 24 hour shut off notice. St. Vincent de Paul paid $100 of her bill, which was enough to prevent the disconnection short term. We also gave her information on how to obtain LIHEAP assistance to cover a larger portion that would help her get through the upcoming winter.
