Donate to Our Campaign for Neighbor Survival
Many of you reading this are strong supporters. For others, this may be your first introduction to St. Vincent de Paul. We very much appreciate both your interst and your heartfelt generosity. Thousands of families in our local communities are struggling. We are receiving thousands of calls for help. The lines at our food bank are longer. Many seldom know where to turn for aid.
We reassure folks they will not be forgotten. We say: “When people need help, we’ll be there.”
A gift from you this year will help troubled families avoid eviction, keep heat and lights on this winter, and help parents feed their kids nutritious meals. People of every age, sex, creed, color, and religious orientation face these struggles daily, and we serve them all equally. Everyone is welcome at St. Vincent de Paul.
We Mobilize Volunteers to Help Our Neighbors
St. Vincent de Paul organizes groups of volunteers in neighborhoods in Seattle and King County to make home visits to help people. We do the best we can to improve their lives and help them survive.
The Need for Survival Help for Neighbors Grows Annually
Many families in our area are struggling with poverty. Over 2.4 million people went to 52 food banks King County last year. Approximately 55,000 people called our Help Line for survival assistance last year, asking for rent aid, food, utility assistance, diapers, baby supplies, furniture, personal hygiene supplies, and clothing. It’s troubling that almost 50 percent of the public doesn’t know where to go if they needed help with basic necessities.
DONATE NOW TO THE NEIGHBOR SURVIVAL CAMPAIGN
Your Donations Help Prevent Evictions
Annually we receive thousands of requests from people on the verge of eviction. A gift of $100 in many cases will keep a young mother and her kids in an apartment for a month.
Donations Assist People Move To Self-Sufficiency
Our Case Management program helps people move to self-sufficiency in 12 to 18 months. We utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach with proven results in generating positive participant outcomes. CBT focuses on changing a person’s negative thoughts into more positive thinking.
Your Donations Help Neighbors Eat Today
Our Seattle Food Bank distributes close to 1.5 million pounds of food to thousands of needy Seattle households.
Your Donations Help Provide More Services in Neighborhoods
We’re working to establish St. Vincent de Paul Community Social Service Centers in our five thrift stores. Our service centers will work closely with individuals and families to help them move from poverty to self-sufficiency. This allows easy access without long bus trips or waiting in long lines.
