A Place to Rest
A participant in our Veteran Program, Operation Veteran Renewal, recently moved into permanent housing with next to nothing. He had been honorably discharged from the military, after serving two years in the Air Force. He was successfully transitioning into civilian life until an unrelated injury eventually led to homelessness.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, SVdP was able to provide this Veteran with a mattress, box-spring, and bed frame, a living room set, and a voucher for our Thrift Stores for smaller household items. No one should have to live without a bed to sleep in, especially not a Veteran who has served our country.
If you or a Veteran you know are struggling, regardless of discharge status, contact our Veteran Program Coordinator at veterans@svdpseattle.org for support or if you just need to talk to someone. Visit www.svdpseattle.org/renewal for more information about our program.
Also, please note that every Wednesday is Military Appreciation Day in our five King County Thrift Stores. If you are active military personnel or have served in the military, present valid ID and get 20% off your entire purchase.
