Take the Assistance Today

Since April, Community Outreach Representatives JJ and Adam have been regularly visiting our Food Bank where they hope to share information with our neighbors in need about available health care options. By now, JJ and Adam have identified why many uninsured individuals feel challenged about their health care plans, or the lack thereof. While there is a wider selection of options and apparent increased access to health care, many individuals continue to delay care, miss appointments, or seek unneeded emergent care. These trends may be due to pride, disillusionment, and complacency towards the health care system. Advocates of preventative care, JJ and his team continue their consistent outreach efforts in order to build trust and rapport with individuals at shelters, thrift stores, and foods banks, where they help enroll every 1 in 5 individuals in UnitedHealthcare.

This enrollment rate is laudable, especially for the targeted audience. Currently, UnitedHealthcare is extending benefits for Washington state individuals with limited incomes who are older than 65 years old and have a disability. By enrolling, individuals will have access to health products catalog, dental coverage, eyewear coverage, and transportation assistance. Local health care workers are prepared to offer their assistance by visiting homes of clients and learning medical histories of clients. Eligible applicants must have both Medicare and Medicaid before applying for this particular UnitedHealthcare Dual Complete plan.

We are excited that JJ and his team are introducing this plan to individuals who may qualify for extended coverage and look forward to their next visit in December.
