Centro Rendu: Sunset Partner
The St. Vincent de Paul Centro Rendu program is a key partner in the City of Renton Sunset Area Transformation Plan (SATP).
This initiative helps guide community reinvestment in the Sunset neighborhood of Renton as one part of the overall strategy to improve the area. (Sunset is in the Northeast section of the City of Renton (see map of area included in this post).
“We are very excited to be participating in this project. This is a classic example of how community partnerships should work,” noted Mirya Muñoz Roach, Associate Director of St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle King County.
The Sunset Area Transformation Plan is a collaborative project between public and private partners. The principal partners are responsible for implementing the plan’s strategies, while community partners support projects through resources and funding. The Plan identifies potential public investments in housing, services, and amenities that would benefit the neighborhood based on identified community needs and opportunities. Three strategies make up the Plan: Neighborhood, Housing, and People.
Principal Partners:
- City of Renton
- Neighborhood House
- Renton Housing Authority
Community Partners include:
- King County Housing Authority
- Homestead Community Land Trust
- The Road Map Project
- Renton School District
- Rebuilding Together Seattle
- Centro Rendu of St. Vincent de Paul
- King County Library System
- Renton Chamber of Commerce
- UW Medicine/Valley Medical Center
- Renton Area Youth & Family Services (RAYS)
- Renton Technical College
- HealthPoint
A different principal partner, who is charged with carrying out projects and initiatives to achieve its goals, heads each strategy in the plan. Together, these strategies holistically—and equitably—aim to transform the neighborhood.
Centro Rendu, a key part of St. Vincent de Paul’s community engagement strategy, works aggressively toward systemic change for Latino Families in all King County Communities.
