SVdP Board of Directors Statement Against Racism

The Board of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle|King County, its staff, and its many members stand together with the African-American community in its current and long-standing suffering. We acknowledge that there is much work ahead of us and we further commit ourselves individually and collectively to listen and take the necessary steps to ensure that the voices of the oppressed are front and center in our planning, decision making, and in our work. We further commit ourselves to listen deeply to the communities who have experienced discrimination and violence, to join with others to become a more inclusive society; and to "hunt down poverty"* by fighting against the evils of systemic and institutional racism.                            *Bl.
