The focus of this position is to provide specialized and progressive case management navigation services –Truancy Prevention and Intervention Program for truant Latino student’s ages 11 to 18 and their families who have been referred by school districts’ staff. This position will also do home visits and family assessments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of Re-Route’s youth prevention services in South King County, with a focus on Kent families.
  • Provide administrative assistance, coordination, and co-facilitations for youth groups.
  • Conducts home visits as needed to address family barriers and to provide resources and services in the home (COVID related guidelines will be followed during this period).
  • Provide progressive navigator/case management services to Latino youth students and to their families including, but not exclusive to the Re-Route program participants who are identified as At-risk based on attendance, academics, behavior in their school or by parents at home.
  • Create and deliver truancy workshops that teach our students new behaviors that prevent gang involvement, drug and alcohol usage and ultimately avoid
  • Entering the Juvenile Justice system.
  • We work in coordination with case management team, Centro Rendu staff and other internal St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) social services to assist Latino youth and families receive holistic and individualized support services.
  • Liaison between school staff and Youth families who are referred by schools in the Kent School District.
  • Utilize existing case management policies and procedures for enrolling new clients and follow-ups on existing client cases.
  • Maintain client’s progress notes and keep assistance and outcomes up to date.
  • Participates actively in family engagement activities in schools and communities where Centro Rendu Youth has access such as but not limited to orientation nights, weekly reports to parents, parent meeting/conferences and activities in Catholic parishes and schools.
  • Maintain client’s progress notes on our client-based database “Charity Tracker”, assistance and outcomes up to date, which includes grant reports to determine achieved program milestones and measurable results.
  • Assist in maintaining records of vouchers, bus tickets and any other form of financial aid for clients on case load by using the Youth database and developing monthly activity reports.
  • Use mediation/conflict resolution and de-escalation skills and motivational interviewing with open ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, summarizing, coaching, supporting, and guiding the individual and family to achieve their goals.
  • Remain up-to-date on evidence-based practices and participate in trainings to adhere to Latino focused practices.
  • Develop working relationships with other providers and service agencies, especially those who work with mental health and counseling, substance abuse treatment, and homelessness services for youth and families.
  • Attend community provider meetings and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Strong Knowledge and experience of community resources and how to access them..
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

In order to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position, an individual must posses the knowledge, training, skills and experience indicated by the following.



High School Diploma or equivalent plus three years of work/volunteer experience working with high risk youth is required .


Language Ability

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ease in addressing groups of clients and communicating with diverse workgroups. Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, safety manuals, and regulations. Applicant must have the ability to write reports. Bilingual English/Spanish speaking and written ability is required.


Computer Skills

Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office software is required. Familiarity with client-based software and email communications will be essential to regular communications and reporting.


Reasoning Ability

Have the ability and creativity in resolving practical societal problems quickly and in situations where there is limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is needed.


Certificates and Licenses

Social work related trainings and certificates are advantageous.


Math Ability

The individual in this position must have the ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Must be able to understand common financial reports, payroll records, and cash management reports.
