The Helpline receives nearly 40,000 calls each year from neighbors in need. Staff and volunteers are equipped to handle incoming calls with compassion and dignity for anyone in need of assistance.
Individuals and families can call the Helpline when they are facing dire circumstances, such as the threat of eviction, utility shut-off notices, hunger and food insecurity, and difficulty meeting their basic needs. Staff connects those in need with our neighborhood outreach teams (these volunteers are called Vincentians). Our Vincentians follow up with the individual or family with a home visit.
